People who overthink are most of the time at their brain; they can spend all day thinking and analyzing. This keeps them away from all other things; for example, they stay away from other people, or they prefer to stay at home rather than socialise.
In reality, their lives may be very boring, and they may not try things because they do not have the courage to do what they think. Maybe they are afraid. But what are they afraid of? Overthinking means that you constantly avoid thinking about the here and now. There is no doubt that you live with memories of the past and dream of a bright future. Above all, overthinking prevents you from living your life - it is just a passive act. The important thing is to know how to turn what is going on in your head into reality, into a real experience.
People who overthink have another major problem that plagues most people today: anxiety. When you overthink, it happens because you are worrying about something, whether it is the past, the future, the present, or the people around you. All of this puts you in a vortex that can be difficult to escape. Sometimes you may not realise it, but you are worrying about things that you should not be paying attention to. It is possible that your insecurities are the cause of all this.
Have you ever found yourself reliving an event over and over in your mind? It could be a story you told a friend or a situation that made someone angry. You go through that scenario over and over again, thinking about what other outcome could have been. It’s useless to relive the past because you can’t change it. That’s why worrying about what you did in the past is useless. The smart move is to look to the present and move forward.
Tips to Stop Overthinking If you find yourself constantly analysing your entire life, every interaction, or every move you make, it's time to stop. To do so, here are a few tips that may help you when you feel like you can't stop thinking: Talk to a friend This can help you stop your mind from wandering. Talk about your worries to get rid of doubts and stop thinking about situations that probably don't deserve such a place in your mind. Write down your thoughts Keeping a journal can be very useful for letting off steam and expressing your feelings. This way you can free yourself from all those thoughts that are overwhelming you and even see them from a different perspective.
Distract Yourself You can do this by doing something you enjoy or trying a new activity that interests you. Distracting yourself will help you stop focusing on all the things that are going on in your mind. Sometimes people think too much because they have too much free time. “Stop!” If you know you can’t stop thinking about something that’s worrying you, tell yourself, “Enough!” This will force you to focus on something else, and you’ll escape the trap that has you tied up. Repeat this as many times as necessary.
Have you ever caught yourself thinking too much? Sometimes it’s easy to give things a lot more importance than they really deserve. If you think a friend isn’t talking to you as much as they used to or even ignoring you, it might just be in your imagination. Try not to think too much about things that don’t deserve your concern. Sometimes it’s all in your mind.
The reason something negative is in your mind is that trauma actually, the traumas, take control of our thoughts and beliefs. This is equal to taking control of all our lives and the way we accept everything around us.
The bonus is you can take control of your life. Just allow yourself, and from now on, whatever happens, just say, SO WHAT? I CAN HANDLE IT.
